Angel Move

Move Caden Dana from preseason IL to NA spot in Yahoo

Tyler Soderstrom to preseason IL

Activate Josh Lowe from preseason IL

Soderstrom has DTD status. If he loses the DTD and is healthy during the FA Draft then ill open space to add him back to Yahoo roster

He played today. Time to take him back off.

i think the larger point is being missed. The pre-season IL is for guys who are EXPECTED to miss opening day. It doesn't matter if they have day to day status or they are out for 3 weeks in February. If they are reasonably expected to miss opening day, then they are IL eligble. If they took a fastball off the arm and have a bruise and are sitting out a day, they are not IL eligible

Exactly, like didn't we just go through this?

Quite frankly, Soderstrom should be fair game to draft, but I would like to just get everything moving forward towards a fun and successful season where the Los Angeles Dodgers (NOT RUBEN) win its third-straight World Series.

From Yahoo/Rotowire at 12:58 am Friday

Advice: Soderstrom was nailed by a Randy Dobnak changeup in the fourth inning. The outfielder initially remained in the game and even scored in the same frame on a passed ball, but he was then substituted for in left field for the bottom of the inning. That being said, it doesn't sound like Soderstrom is dealing with a serious injury, so at this point his availability for Opening Day doesn't seem to be in jeopardy.

Back to my comments:

For example, I did not put Hunter Gaddis on preseason IL until now b/c his status was up in the air, but he was always expected to be ready. Now he is likely to start season on IL  Jason Adam was supposed to miss opening day and start season on IL and now he might make opening day roster, still TBD. That is what Preseason IL is for.

Maybe I’m sucker, however I always took it as the rule in FA to draft a player you had to a free corresponding roster spot. I always check to ensure my players are not active and shouldn’t occupy an IL spot before doing so.
I don’t want drama, however I’m fine if we rewrite rules here to keep consistency for even this draft.

also let me just say that i don't post this to single out Chris or anyone else. I was just posting because i know there is confusion about the rule and how it works. There are some things about it that aren't clear and we can clean up. I am positive that Chris wasn't trying to do something he thought was against the rules. We have two leagues between this and hockey, and while I am not sure how hockey is for the pre-season IL, I know that the differences between the two leagues can be a little confusing on some of the details. It is hard to remember them all and I know Chris like to maximize his use of rosters within the rules and sometimes that can get close to whatever boundaries are in place and all the subtle gray areas. Chris does a great job maintaining both leagues and it's alot of work. Far too much, that's why Im typically an anti-rule advocate and anti-voting. That's why i vote no on about 90% of things lol

Appreciate you saying that dude.

Yeah so what I realized last night is that hockey league and baseball league preseasons operate very differently and we can blame Yahoo for it.

In hockey league, we don't have preseason IR or IL.

And it's because, for some weird reason, Yahoo allows us to stash DTD players or Out players in IR+. That's where the idea of IL+ came from. So in hockey preseason, when players get DTD status, they can be stashed in the Yahoo roster. And when they lose DTD status, they can still be stashed in there as long as you want, it's just Yahoo won't allow you to add anybody until space is opened up. So, because I like to have as much depth as possible as my strategy, I'll load up as much as I can.

Which, by the way, it's come to my attention that I think the majority would prefer for this to not happen so the FA draft has as many players as possible. And that's fine. We can talk about that in August when hockey league opens up and figure out what we want the rules to be.

So back to baseball, the rules that were copy and pasted in were back from before we invented IL+ and was back when preseason IL was 5 spots. It was my understanding that when we expanded preseason IL to 10 spots that we were mixing in IL+ guys too. And I think that's what's caused the confusion because Ted is like well, this is how preseason IL has always been and from my side it's like, well preseason IL was supposed to include IL+ guys too.

But the main thing that's important right now is we have a fun draft this weekend and a fun season.

I'm fine with honoring existing preseason IL rules that Ted and Jason talked about and not putting IL+ guys there.

Then next January, we can figure the rules out and write down exactly what can and can't be done during preseason.

And sorry again that the FA draft was held up for a couple days. I'm happy you guys gave me time to clear out my preseason IL.
