Helping Chris out w/spreadsheets

I also promised Chris that I would come up with a plan to lighten his spreadsheet load.

Now, let's be honest, he moves prospects up and down and changes them so much, that he does it to himself (THAT WAS A JOKE EVEN THOUGH HE KNOWS IT'S TRUE, LOL)

But this is what I propose since we all probably keep a list of our players and money, etc. And this is coming from someone who just lost a prospect b/c of an error in my document.

  1. Before the 2027 season begins, it is required that every team lists its Prospects, IL, NA, NIY in the spreadsheet for Chris.
  2. Chris can still keep track of multi-year contracts b/c for some reason people always forget and we don't want drama, lol.
  3. Money...There should be a tab with money that each team updates every week only if they made a transaction or win a week.
  4. You have to enter your prospect draft pick into the spreadsheet at the same time you make your pick.
  5. Before the 2027 FA Draft, we can have 2-3 volunteers check on IL. Steve and I already volunteered to assist Ted and Chris next season.
  6. During the season, all Season Ending IL and Prospects Changes must be updated in the spreadsheet within 48 hours of posting, that is the same time as processing trades, so I think that is fair.
  7. NA must be added to roster during the first week of the baseball season.
  8. Now, the issue is the extra IL spots...I think we could probably update that ourselves too, Chris keeping tabs on us is helpful.
  9. Honest mistakes can be rectified if caught quickly, but if not after a few warnings you could lose your player, cash, etc.

Just throwing some thoughts about there. I feel the league has gotten unwieldy and maybe we do somethings to streamline and reign it while  and also help Chris out.

Open to any other ideas.

Thanks,

Jason

fully agree on this but i will add this caveat. I tried to do this somewhere around 2014, maybe before Chris joined, maybe after. It was a disaster. People were not updating it timely or at all. People were updating things in weird formats. Now we've come a long way in terms of document sharing and other things so maybe it can be better now. I just know that back then it ended up creating more trouble than not. And somehow Chris ended up volunteering to do this, thankfully, and also to his detriment and sanity. Definitely worth trying but everyone has to really commit to do it right.

Also, I FULLY agree that everyone needs to keep their own documentation of their players, prospects, cash etc. If something is lost because you didn't or can't prove it, then tough luck.

For rules, we did have written rules, i am not sure that they have been fully updated. But we can share that document and update them accordingly. Maybe soon we can just have AI completely create our own website/fantasy systems all in one

I haven’t received support in the past, however why not transition to Fantrax? On the platform you can track your own prospects and call up between roster/minors same day if necessary. Open to this myself as it would eliminate the constant motion of posting call up and send downs.

  • I agree with Alex.....I have other teams in Fantrax Leagues and Fantrax works great.....and like Alex mentioned it would eliminate  the posting of transactions we currently have to do too as it lets all the owners see exactly who is on each team's Main Roster and Minor League Roster and IL all in one quick look at their team's Roster page.

I do like Fantrax’s platform and play another league on there as well, I’d be down to switch if it made it less for Chris to track, and like David said, makes the entire roster visible for everyone in one spot

There is also a league chat on Fantrax too so

Fantrax sounds great. Maybe we can do a rare in-season vote and transfer for 2027.

I hadn't heard of it. Thank you to everyone for chiming in. Makes the league great!

Thank you Jason for helping out to make our league great. With going to another site I am open for anything. I like Yahoo only because we have done it for years. But I am just an old guy now lol
